The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in its report Technology Priorities for Global Development (2021), named additive technologies and new materials as one of five key technologies that have the potential to transform the global economy. The World Economic Forum (WEF), in its Technology Trends 2022 (2021) report, also named additive technologies and new materials as among the five key technologies that will have the greatest impact on the world in the coming years. The European Commission, in its European Technology Strategy (2020) report, identified additive technologies and new materials as two of the ten key technologies that will be critical to Europe's future. McKinsey & Company and Gartner, in their studies, noted that additive technologies and new materials are among the most promising technologies in terms of growth and impact on the global economy.
